Duncan HollandsDuncan joined the British Army as a young man and served for 7 years in the British Army in the illustrious and World famous Scots Guards. His time with the Regiment including public duties at Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London and Windsor Castle. After specializing with G Squadron he spent the next 8 years travelling the world training units and seeing service in several conflicts. He toured Countries as diverse as The Falkland Islands, Northern Ireland, West Africa, Iraq and Somalia. After his military service Duncan spent a further 6 years working for private military companies.
Duncan's passion for Normandy started as a young boy. His mother's father Bill Collicot helped intercept German radio transmissions and his Great-Uncle took part in Operation Aquatint, a daring raid on 12th September 1942 into occupied Normandy at a location that later became Omaha Beach!
After moving to Normandy with his family Duncan began working as a battlefield tour guide, rapidly earning a fine reputation as an engaging and knowledgeable battlefield expert. He is currently writing a book to keep the DDay story alive. His previous clients say that Duncan's enthusiasm for DDay is contagious and the clear and nuanced way he explains the events brings the events that happened and stories to life. |
